The
Ventura County Women's Forum Collaborative is a 501(c)3 non-profit
organization dedicated to empowering Ventura County women around the 12
critical areas of concern outlined at the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing,1995.
These areas of concern include the economy, environment, girl-child,
violence, media, education, institutional mechanisms for advancement,
peace, human rights, poverty, power sharing, and health. These concerns
were reviewed and reinstated at the Beijing + 15 Conference in New York, 2010, and the Beijing + 16 Conference (New York, 2011).
Collaborative members include diverse individuals and organizations concerned about the welfare of women in Ventura County.
The
VCWFC hosts forums for the Ventura County community on an 18-month
cycle to discuss and plan action around the 12 critical areas of
concern. Past forums have focused on, "Economic Justice in the Changing
Global Economy" (2006), "Educational Justice: Gender Equity and Social
Change" (2008), and "Economic Insecurity and Women" (2009). Between
forums we host and track follow-up activities.
We
are an all-volunteer organization. We encourage women to become
involved in the Collaborative to improve their leadership expertise, to
develop new talents and to learn new skills. We will find a place for
everyone who wants to be an active participant with the Collaborative.
The Ventura County Women's Forum Collaborative invites you to our fifth forum
